Faith-based approach

You Were Born for This

At Faithful Career Moves, we know that traditional performance reviews and career assessments focus on growth and development by pointing out weaknesses.

The problem is, not all behaviors can be learned and fixing weaknesses only prevents failure. Whereas building strengths leads to excellence.

We believe that each of us has a unique set of talents and abilities that God wants (and EXPECTS!) us to develop and use to support our families, serve others, and build up His Kingdom. Using the Top 5  StrengthsFinder® Assessment, we help you put into words what has been in your heart all along.

How This Works

1

Identify Your Strengths

Through the StrengthsFinder® assessment, we help you identify and understand your natural power and potential for excellence.

2

Turn Your Insights Into Action

HOW I FOUND MY STRENGTHS

When I started Faithful Career Moves, I felt a smidge of Imposter Syndrome because, at the time, I didn't have any formal career coach training. Although I had been helping people with their career moves for decades, the process I developed came by inspiration and hands-on experience. To really launch this business with authority and start charging for my services, I felt like I needed something "official" in my bio.

SOMETHING "OFFICIAL" IN MY BIO

It turns out, there are plenty of career coaches without credentials. I know because I looked at a bunch of career coach profiles on LinkedIn. But a few coaches that I admire all claimed to be "Gallup-Certified Strengths Coaches." Since I teach people how to create "accomplishments-based" resumes, I thought "strengths-based" coaching would be the same. I was wrong--but not entirely.

WHAT IS STRENGTHS-BASED COACHING?

According to Gallup, strengths-based coaching helps people discover what they naturally do best, learn how to develop their talents into strengths, and use those results to maximize their potential.

According to me, strengths-based coaching is not about the writing of resumes and LinkedIn profiles and interview responses--which I am used to and which I now call the practical application of your strengths--it's about discovering your God-Given talents and using that insight to help you figure out what you were born to do. It's more strategic than tactical.

If that seems overly vague or ambitious, let me explain.

MY TOP FIVE STRENGTHS

To start the certification program, I first had to take the StrengthsFinder Assessment myself. When the results arrived, I took a quick glance and thought, "Big surprise. I'm an ACHIEVER." With too many other things to do that day (hence, the Achiever in me), I pushed the report aside with a plan to study it in detail when the class started.

Only when the training got underway and I took a closer look at my results did I begin to feel understood for the first time in my life.

I have always been labeled with words like "Type A," "Red," "Highly Competitive," "Overachiever," and so forth. And while I do get more done in a day than most people, my reasons for doing so are far more nuanced than those broad labels imply. In fact, only two of my top 10 strengths are "executing" qualities. The rest are primarily "relationship" driven.

The combination that grabbed my attention is CONNECTEDNESS and INDIVIDUALIZATION. Connectedness is the sure knowledge that we are all connected, that things happen for a reason, and that this life is part of a bigger story. Individualization is a talent for recognizing unique qualities in individuals.

To recap: I enrolled in the course to validate my expertise so I could create a business to prove that God has given each one of us a unique set of talents and abilities that He expects us to develop to serve our families, to serve others, and to build up His kingdom. I'm not sure it gets more "connected" and "individual" than that.

My top five strengths are ACHIEVER, RELATOR, INDIVIDUALIZATION, RESPONSIBILITY and CONNECTEDNESS.

I WAS BORN FOR THIS

For four days, I shook my head in amazement. I only took the course to put a "stamp of approval" on my bio. I just wanted credentials.

Instead, I got a new set of tools to more fully help people apply their God-Given strengths to their careers, relationships, and more. The experience has been transformational for me and I look forward to sharing it with others.
